Iron Element 270 XL Awning with D-Zip Rooftop Tent Entry

The Iron Element 270 XL is a free standing 270 degree awning with a zippered D-zip entry, so you can climb into your rooftop tent without stepping out from under cover. It gives you extra room to cook, sit and gear up in the shade. A welded A-frame keeps the arms stiff, the lights are built into every arm, and the poles are already inside the frame when conditions turn.

• D-zip rooftop tent entry: a zippered opening with improved water redirection, so you can get in and out of your tent under cover.
• Welded A-frame: better handling in poor weather.
• LED lighting on every arm: touch-button strip lighting with multi-colour settings and dimming.
• Telescopic support poles built into each frame: spike ends secure into the ground when the wind picks up.
• Quick set up: tension it out and secure it with the quick release straps.
• Rain run off poles: fold them up to shed water off the canvas.
• Stitched-in tie-down points: at the end of each arm and at the mid points.
• 320GSM canvas and a 2500D transit cover: tough canvas, with a heavy-duty cover that resists scratches.
• 4 mounting channels: adjust the mounting height to suit your vehicle or tent.
• Slide-through rail: hang storage pockets from the awning.

Mounting to a Rooftop Tent

Our AUSMADE Large Awning Brackets suit mounting this awning to a rooftop tent. Send us an enquiry if you need help picking the right brackets, or to check the D-zip entry lines up with your tent.

Fitment

The flat pack brackets suit roof rack channels (square bolts) or clamping to bars (metal plates and long bolts). Not sure it will suit your rack? Send us an enquiry and we'll confirm before you order.

Installation

Prefer to have it fitted for you? We can install it at our Pakenham workshop. Send us an enquiry to book it in for when your pre-order arrives.

1. Assemble each bracket to your desired height with 6 x 20mm M8 bolts and 6 x nylock nuts.
2. Fix each bracket to your roof rack or bars with at least 2 fixing points.
3. Slide at least 4 T-bolts through the awning channels on each bracket (2 top, 2 bottom). Match them to the bracket slots at your chosen height and secure with the washers and nylock nuts.

Wind Safety

This awning is free standing in calm conditions. In wind, deploy all the poles and use all the tie-downs, and pack it away if it gets worse.

Care and Maintenance

• Unzip the awning all the way to the end before pulling it out so the zips don't snag.
• Tension it evenly at both tensioning points.
• Fold the rain run off poles down and check the canvas isn't caught on the hinge before packing away.
• Clean with warm water and a sponge or soft brush. Use standard car wash solution on the transit bag. Avoid harsh chemicals.
• Air it out after use in damp conditions, and check brackets, hinges and bolts for tightness.

What is a D-zip awning? A D-zip awning has a zippered opening that lines up with your rooftop tent entry, so you can get in and out of the tent while staying under the awning.
